School-to-Work Criteria

A school-to-work model or practice that involves Local Unions should—

star Be based on strong partnerships that include schools, union representatives, employers, students and parents, and others.
star Make available high quality learning opportunities for all students, including out of school youth, students with disabilities, and young women seeking nontraditional careers.
star Be results oriented, the school-to-work model or practice should help students make positive achievement gains while in school and make meaningful connections to postsecondary education and employment.
star Be replicable/transportable to other settings and vocations with similar resources and results.
star Focus on high wage/high growth industries and occupations.
star Be durable and sustainable by maintaining a consistent track record of success over time with expectations of continuing in the future with available resources.
star Emphasize how technology has or will play a major role in supporting student learning in classrooms and/or workplaces.
star Be cost effective and efficient in relation to the benefit of the program for students and its potential for replication in other settings.
