Teamsters and America's Youth

Local 696 Members Serving on School Advisory Councils

Local 696, Topeka, Kansas

Excerpted from UPSDATE E-mail, September 25, 2000

Teamsters Local 696 President Bill Moore and Office Manager have been selected by the Northeast Kansas Education Service Center to serve on the Advisory Councils for 11 school districts for the direction of Carl Perkins activities and School-to-Careers programs.

Among these programs will be the inclusion of a Labor Speakers Bureau and Labor Library. Additionally, the Labor Representatives will be invited to make presentations at the June 6, 7, 8 and 9, 2000 Summer Training Program for Area Teachers. The goal is to provide big picture thinking about the role of labor and industry in providing a balanced and open opportunity for education of the area youth.
