What Do You Know About the Teamsters?

Did you know…

star The word Teamsters refers to team drivers who, long ago, drove teams of horses and delivered the nations' goods?
star The Teamsters Union was founded in 1903. Originally a union that represented truck drivers, Teamsters today work in every field and in every community throughout the United States and Canada.
star The Teamsters Union represents working men and women in virtually every industry in the public and private sectors.
star There are 1.4 million Teamster members in the United States and Canada. These members belong to one of the 528 Local Unions we have in communities throughout North America, Hawaii, Puerto Rico - even Guam and Saipan.
star Today, Teamsters play an important role in our economy. They make or deliver the goods and services you and your families have come to rely on. Chances are, most of the items you buy, the clothes you wear or the packages you receive were touched by a Teamster doing his or her job, each and every workday.
star Teamsters work in top fields, in high wage, growth industries. Teamster members are professionals at what they do.
