Women's (Labor) History Month

The American Labor Studies Center web site (http://www.labor-studies.org/)is commemorating Women's (Labor) History Month in March by featuring a number of excellent curriculum resources for teachers on the role of women in American labor history.

Some of the materials include A Brief History of Women in the Labor Movement by Juliet M. Mofford; Resources for Women's History Month, provided by the Coalition for Labor Union Women (CLUW); an extensive collection of links on women's labor history from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME); and the song Union Maid by Joe Glazer.

There is a special focus on Mary Harris "Mother" Jones—one of the most colorful figures in American labor history—including details on a special event on May 1, honoring her memory and work at the Troy (NY) Savings Bank Music Hall.

A new link to the American Labor Museum Botto House National Landmark in Haledon, NJ. is now also available in the "Recommended Resources" section of the ALSC web site.
